How to unlink/disconnect your Facebook From Instagram Account 2022

Does your Instagram story automatically go on your Facebook story? Are you fed up with your Instagram and Facebook accounts being linked together?

Facebook and Instagram are two of the biggest social media platforms in the world now and both are owned by Meta (formerly Facebook). Initially, they were owned by different parent companies but then Facebook company acquired Instagram as part of its brands.




Prior to that, Facebook and Instagram users had the option to link or connect these two (2) accounts for easy sharing of items on these two social platforms. When your Facebook and Instagram accounts are linked, you will notice that most of your post on Facebook appears on Instagram and vice versa. There are two main ways you can disconnect or unlink your Facebook from your Instagram account. You can do using the Facebook app or on the web on your PC or Mac.

How To Unlink Your Facebook From Instagram Account On Web

Time needed: 1 minute

  1. Open a browser and visit the official Instagram website

  2. Log into your Instagram account with your username/phone and password

  3. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner

  4. Select Settings >> Accounts Center

  5. Locate your Facebook account and click on the arrow next to it

  6. Click on Remove from Accounts Center. Confirm and press done afterward

How To Unlink Your Facebook on your Android/iPhone Using the Instagram App 2022

To unlink or disconnect Facebook and Instagram on iPhone/ Android, kindly follow these steps.

  1. Open the Instagram app on your device
  2. Log into your Instagram account with your username/phone and password
  3. Tap on your profile picture and then tap on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner
  4. Select Settings
  5. Scroll through and select Accounts Center
  6. Tap on Accounts & profiles
  7. Tap on your Facebook account and then Remove from Accounts Center
  8. Confirm by selecting Yes, Unlink
